And I
intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which
laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and [with]
other my fellow labourers, whose names [are] in the book of
life.
Some time has passed since my last letter to everyone.
We are preparing for another year of events
that, we, the ladies, are diligently working on.
We make Easter eggs as
one of our fundraisers. We make coconut eggs, peanut butter
eggs, and maple nut eggs available for ordering.
In May, we will set up
a booth in the Memorial Day Parade. If you attend the
Ironton Memorial Day parade; stop by our booth for
refreshments.
In July, our ladies
will be packed and on the way for our annual ladies'
retreat. The ladies in our church will be staying in a
cabin for two to three days. It is a time of
friendship and growth in the Lord for us.
NOTE: We hope and
pray that some day God will open the door for a great
ladies' retreat.
Our retreats began in
October of 2000 when we rented a cabin in Pigeon Forge,
TN for a three day stay.
The lesson I taught on
that first retreat in 2000 (a lesson for anytime) was
titled: The Shoes Women Wear. They
are as follows:
Casual shoes -
We all like to wear these type of shoes. They
are comfortable, easy to wear, and most of the time
we would wear these shoes everywhere. However,
as Christians, do we want to live a casual life?
(Romans 8:1-2)
Hiking shoes -
We must be prepared for our journey ahead, the hills
we will be climbing, and the valley's we will go
through.
(Hebrews 12:1)
Running shoes
- I don't think so much about a race. I think
of moving forward in life. (Philippians
3:13)
Nursing shoes
- We are to bear each others' burdens.
(Romans 15:1)
House shoes -
When we think of house shoes, we picture big, fuzzy
ones; however, the ones I think of are the duties of
a wife.
(Proverbs 31:11-12)
Teaching shoes
- We have a responsibility to teach our children
about Christ.
(Deuteronomy 11:19)
Barefoot - I
think about how we should be following His steps and
how that we must remember someone is watching the
steps that we take. (II Peter 2:21)
This is just a
portion of our lessons on that trip to TN. The
following is a poem that we used to end that week:
THE PATH
Often times I wonder about the
footprints that I make,
Is this truly the path God wants
me to take?
The steps I leave behind me vary
from day to day,
Because I wear different shoes to
help others along the way.
Sometimes my shoes get dirty and
I must stop to pray,
I ask the Lord to clean my feet
after all I'm the potter's clay.
But on those days I wear no shoes
and my path is clear to see,
I ask myself one question
"Would I want others to follow
me?"

encourage you this day.
