If you are unsaved today, this page is
especially for you. The reason that we have a salvation page is
that's our goal here at Campbell Chapel--to see the unsaved come
to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the day and
time that we are living, there are so many things that are
preached and taught across America and across the world. We need
to understand that Jesus is the only way to heaven.
There's not many ways, He's not one of many ways, but Jesus
Christ is the only way to heaven. If I am going to go, it's
going to be because I have accepted Him, believed His Word
and responded to His call. That's what gives us the
opportunity and ability to go to heaven.
We're going to read some scriptures here.
Someone titled this many years ago, "The Roman's Road." I
suppose that the reason they did this is because the scriptures
that we are going to be reading is coming from the book of
Romans. It has to do with those that are unsaved and if you'll
just believe these simple scriptures that we read then you can
be saved and you can be on your way to heaven.
The Bible says in Romans chapter three, verse
ten:
"As it is written,
There is none righteous, no, not one:"
The Apostle Paul wants us to understand that
we are not righteous. The word "righteous" in very simple terms
means that we are not right with God. He says that there is "none
of us righteous, no, not one." I know sometimes we think
that heritage, where we've come from, our family name, our
parents were Christians, our grandmothers were Christians, we
give so much to the church, or we don't commit some kind of
horrible sin that we don't need to be saved. However, Paul makes
it very clear here to the church at Rome that there is none
righteous. My own righteousness, the Bible says, is as filthy
rags. In the eyes of God, if we're not saved then there's none
righteous.
Romans chapter three, verse twenty-three
says:
"For all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Notice the word he uses there. He uses the
word "all." He didn't just say a
select group. He didn't say those that commits heinous crimes or
some kind of very serious sins. He says, "For
all have sinned." That includes me, that includes you,
that includes everyone that's ever been born, "For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
What that means is that we need to be saved, that we have sinned
and that we have fallen way short of what God expects out of you
and I, if we're going to go to heaven. That includes us
all--remember that. That includes us all.
The Bible says in Romans six, verse
twenty-three:
"For the wages of
sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord."
He makes it very plain here that the wages
that we're going to receive because of sin is going to be death.
You see folks, there's no good sinners and no bad sinners. We're
all sinners as I've already stated to you here. We've all
sinned. Don't think that you are any better, or any worse than
anyone else. We've all sinned. Everyone of us have sinned, but
the thing that we need to understand is that there is a payday
that we're going to be paid for our sin.
The Bible says here, "...the
wages of sin is death..." If we do not repent of our
sins, then we're going to die eternally. We're going to be
eternally separated from a loving, caring and a kind God. That's
the reason that Jesus Christ went to the cross of Calvary that
we may not die; that we might able to live with Him forever.
The Bible goes on and says here, "...but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
You see, death is brought on by my sin, but aren't you glad that
there is a gift that comes from Almighty God. That gift is
eternal life and we can have eternal life through our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ. There's nothing like knowing today that we
are saved and that we are on our way heaven and it's a wonderful
life. I promise you, it's a wonderful life! It's an exciting
time to be alive to be able to see the events that are taking
place, but all these things come about because we have eternal
life. It's a FREE GIFT of GOD. A gift is something that you
didn't earn, that someone is offering you freely, and God is
offering us eternal life freely through His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Bible says in Romans chapter five, verse
eight:
"But God commendeth
his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us."
What that means is when you and I were
unlovable, when you and I were still yet in our sins, when this
world was dying, and when people were dying in their sins; even
though that we were sinners, Christ died for you and I. You see,
that should tell us how much that God loves you and how much God
loves me. Even when we were in our sins, even when we rebel
against God; Jesus Christ still yet died for us and He gave His
life for us. The reason He hung on the cross and shed His
precious blood and went through all the things that He went
through is because, my friend, that He loved you and I. He cared
about you and I and He wants to save us.
The Bible says in Romans chapter ten, verses
nine and ten:
9 "That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved."
10 "For with the
heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation."
There's a couple of words here that I want to
look at in this verse. He said, "If
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus..."
Basically what the word "confess"
means in very simple terms is that we agree with Jesus Christ
that we need to get saved. You see, if you don't ever realize
that you need to get saved, then you'll never get saved. You
know, if you didn't know that you were sick; then you would
never go to the doctor. If you didn't know that you had cancer
then you would never go see a cancer specialist. Well you know,
if we don't ever understand and realize and accept what Jesus
Christ said about our sins and agree with Him that we have
sinned then we will never make things right with Him.
It goes on here, "...and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved." It's a very simple thing,
friends, there's no hoops for us to jump through. I know
religion makes it very hard for us sometimes to understand how
simple that the plan of salvation really is, but he says, if
I'll agree that I'm a sinner, if I will believe in my heart that
God raised Jesus Christ from the dead; he says, "...thou
shalt be saved."
He uses the words "believe
in thine heart," that doesn't mean an intellectual
belief, that doesn't mean a belief that we just have that we
believe that there's a God in heaven, but it goes deeper than
that. It means that we simply believe that Jesus Christ did die
for us and believe that in our hearts. If I really believe
that, then my life will prove what I believe. If I really
believe in my heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead
then my actions will prove that I believe that.
You see, so many wants to get the intellect,
our thinking, our minds confused with our hearts and they are
two different things there. When I actually believe; sincerely
and honestly believe that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead;
if I believe that I'm a sinner, then my actions will prove that.
I will surrender my life to Him and I'll follow Him.
The Bible says here, "For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation." Isn't it
wonderful today, how simple salvation really is? That we can be
saved from the life of sin. We can be saved from the pits of
hell. We can have our names written in the Lamb's book of Life.
When life comes to an end, whether it's today or whether it's
ten years, fifty years, or a hundred years from today; we can
have the assurance that we're going to go to heaven. My! I
praise the Lord for that! I praise the Lord for the hope that we
have today in Jesus Christ.
The Bible says in Romans chapter ten, verse
thirteen:
"For whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
So many folks that I've talked to over the
years that tells me, "Preacher, you don't know how bad I've
been. I've committed adultery. I've went out on my wife. I've
done all kinds of horrible things. I've stolen. I have done so
many things wrong."
Sometimes we think that God won't forgive us.
My friend, the Bible says here, "For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
That's you today, that's you. It doesn't matter how far in sin
you've went, it doesn't matter how far you've went away from
God; if you will just call upon Him today, the Bible makes a
very positive statement here, if you'll call upon the name of
the Lord, you shall be saved. You see friend, that's
positive and God will never break His Word. God will never lie
to you and I. If you and I will just do those things, just these
very simple six or eight verses here. If you'll just read those
things, believe those things, confess those things and act upon
those things; you can be saved today. Your sins can be washed
away today and this could be the first day of not only the rest
of your life, but this could be the greatest day of your life.
I want to tell you something else too before
I close; I know there's a lot of folks, no doubt, that's
viewing, whose homes are broken up. I deal with folks all the
time where husbands go one way, wives go another way and
children go another way for a lot of different reasons. I
promise you something, I'm not going to say if you get saved
that God's going to put your family back together, I'm not going
to say that. But I will tell you this; that if you/husband and
you/wife, both of you get saved, I promise you something; God
will bring you back together. I will promise you that. If you
will be faithful to Him, God will hear your prayers and God will
answer your prayers.
I will say that because I know, I've proved
God over the years in many, many ways. He's a very faithful God
and I promise you that He'll do some great things for you. It's
my prayer, this day that you will find you a place to pray
somewhere, that you'll get down on your face before God and
simply say, Lord, I believe these scriptures that I've read
and I'm calling upon the name of the Lord, I'm calling upon your
name, Lord, I'm asking you to forgive me of my sins. If you
are honestly and sincerely doing that, I promise you something;
God will save you and God will forgive you of your sins. You can
have a brand new beginning today. God can wipe the slate clean.
People may never forgive you for what you've
done, but that doesn't really matter folks. People may not
forgive me for some of the things I've done. The great thing is
that I know my sins have been forgiven by the Almighty God
that's in heaven. He's the one I'm going to stand before one
day. That's really all that matters. It's my prayer that
wherever you are, wherever you are viewing this from; that
you'll find you a place to pray, repent of your sins and make
things right with God. He'll save you today.
If you do that, please
e-mail or call us (740.532.4822)
and let us know that you made things right with the Lord. We'll
be praying for you. We'll help you and we will counsel you.
If you are in the tri-state area
[KY, OH, and WV] and you
don't have a place to go to--let me say this--I don't advocate
leaving one church and going to another, but if you are in a
church like I've talked to so many people from different
churches saying, "Preacher, my church is dying. I'm dying here
at my church." Friend, find you a church to go to that believes
the Bible. Find a church that is filled with spirit-filled
believers where the Spirit of God is working and where the
Spirit of God is. That's not in every church, today. Find you a
place to pray, seek the face of God and I promise you if you've
made things right with God that God will send you to a Bible
believing, Spirit-filled church where you can grow and prosper.
It's my prayer that you do this today and
we'll continue praying for you. You that's saved, pray for us.
